How does this holiday make a difference?
We use essentially local services for our manual work, our huts are built by local builders with building material from the area. More than 90% of the building materials used for our huts come from the surroundings. Our area is still very green and intact so there is no electricity or pipe born water in our huts. We use local lighting devises, drinking water from the city and some water from the stream. We intend to build solar panels for electricity and also dig a good well for fresh water supply.
We organize seminars on health, education, sanitation, environmental and gender issues for the local communities and our activities provide employment opportunities for the local population.
We use environmentally friendly building materials, we do not use polluting substances for the maintenance of our garden and in other agricultural activities, we grow our food organically, we strive to our CO2 emissions to a minimum and we emphasise on the efficient use of energy and on the use of renewable energy.
We grow a lot of local produce in our ecologically friendly farms and produce a great amount of vegetables, fruit and other food crops such as maize, beans and cassava, just to mention a few. We also intend to invest in the processing of fruits and the transformation of other primary agricultural products which we hope will provide employment and income to the local population in our area.
