Nigeria responsible tourism event - 25th June 2010
On the occasion of the Worldwide Responsible Tourism Day 2010, organised by the International Coalition for Responsible Tourism (based in Paris, France), our local expert for Nigeria, Taiwo, has done an excellent job at organising an educational event for Secondary School students, to raise awareness towards the concept of responsible and sustainable tourism. In his home state of Oyo, South-West Nigeria, Taiwo has single handedly organised a one-day educational event which will include talks, workshops, a field-trip to a site of cultural significance and a tree-planting session.
West Africa Discovery provided assistance with resources to use during the event, guidance as to how to approach the participants and financial support for the transport to and from the cultural site of the Warlord's Palace of Ibadan.
You can find the photos below. We will follow up with testimonies and a summary of the event, so watch this space... You can also find below a few press releases that appeared in Nigerian Press and the program for the event.
